The Client Information Specialist position serves as the initial customer contact for telephone calls to Lifelabs. The Client Information Specialist screens the call to understand the nature of the inquiry and satisfactorily resolves the request. This involves interaction with the appropriate applications and resources to source information required. Information provided must be accurate and in keeping with the policy and procedures. Demonstrates Lifelabs Vision and Values in all activities.

This is a Casual postion available at our Surrey office.

Successful candidates must be available for varying hours:

  • Monday to Friday from 0600 to 0015hrs
  • Saturdays from 0700 to 2115hrs
  • Sundays from 0800 until 2015hrs

Causal employees are scheduled to work as required by the operation and will work anywhere from 0 to 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Sunday. Some shifts may be pre-assigned and other shifts will be considered ‘on call’ (i.e. coordinated with Scheduling on day of). Employees are required to complete a Casual Availability Form each year and commit to provide ongoing availability that meets operational needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provides test results and test information to internal and external clients in an efficient and accurate manner. This includes calling, faxing, and answering incoming inquiries as required.
  • Receives and implements requests for additional testing on specimens.
  • Provides patient information to referring physicians and referral labs.
  • Refers questions/complaints to specialists as appropriate for follow-up
  • Responds to routine inquiries from doctors and patients, ensuring follow-up to our clients.
  • Ensures client service information is current by collating statistical information and documentation, follows-up to ensure information is received, updates information as appropriate, file searches archives for medical/legal purposes
  • Receives and follows-up requests for physician consultations


  • Post-Secondary education preferred
  • Completion of a Medical Office Assistant training program or equivalent training or related work experience preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
  • Must be comfortable with PC based technology, keyboarding and navigating thought the applications required to source information
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of Medical terminology an asset
  • Team players as well as the ability to work independently
  • Flexible to work in a shift environment which may include evenings, weekends
  • Desire to meet and exceed pre-defined performance goals
