Position Highlights:

Bring your demonstrated leadership and consultation skills to this exciting opportunity as a Data Architect, Fraser Health's Centre for Advanced Analytics, Data Science, and Innovation (CAADSI) team. In this role, leads a cross functional team of technical staff to develop, design, build, monitor, maintain and support a variety of data products used within designated programs/services. Your ability to work effectively and in collaboration/consultation with internal and external stakeholders will make you an ideal candidate for this role.

Build on your education and career experience as you:

  • Oversees the Data Engineering team’s efforts in development, design, modelling and support of the data products from an architectural perspective.
  • Defines requirements and creates architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing models.
  • Leads, inspires, and influences technical team to embrace modern data engineering practices that enable them to frequently release high-quality and performant service that operate at enterprise scale.
  • Leads the design and implementation of various initiatives for FHA clients. Analyzes requirements, develops architecture / design artifacts, articulates the approach, and organizes the development of data products.
  • Acts as a technical lead on assigned projects and applies project management methodologies. Develops roadmaps, reference architectures and provides guidance and direction to project teams.
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with technology, privacy, security, analytics, reporting, and business departments and teams across FHA and partner organisations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or a related technical discipline or equivalent is required
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of industry experience in Software Development, Data Engineering or a related data intensive field with a proven track record of success in managing technical teams or projects
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical architecture role in designing and deploying large scale solutions. Cloud or related technical certifications are an asset.

Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:
Reporting to the Director, Data Engineering, the Data Architect leads a cross functional team of technical staff to develop, design, build, monitor, maintain and support a variety of data products used within designated programs/services within the Centre for Advanced Analytics, Data Science, and Innovation (CAADSI) and/or throughout Fraser Health. As a key member, the Data Architect works closely with senior technical leadership to ensure design, changes, and support of data projects and operations are in line with the overarching vision and roadmap of the data platform. The Data Architect will work closely with data stakeholders, other teams across FHA and partner health authorities, project managers, and other functions to foster relationships, increase collaboration and represent CAADSI. Possessing expert data architecture knowledge and experience, the Data Architect will push forward the continual improvement of data products including designing solutions, services, and systems while ensuring the technical sustainability and cost meet changing business needs. The role will also stay current with technical trends and best practices to maintain and mentor their expertise and act as a trainer or coach for technical staff.


Responsibilities

  3. Leads, inspires, and influences technical team to embrace modern data engineering practices that enable them to frequently release high-quality and performant service that operate at enterprise scale.
  4. Leads the design and implementation of various initiatives for FHA clients. Analyzes requirements, develops architecture / design artifacts, articulates the approach, and organizes the development of data products.
  5. Acts as a technical lead on assigned projects and applies project management methodologies. Develops roadmaps, reference architectures and provides guidance and direction to project teams.
  6. Fosters collaborative relationships with technology, privacy, security, analytics, reporting, and business departments and teams across FHA and partner organisations.
  7. Partners with stakeholders to architect, build, update, and grow data solutions including transactional, reporting, integration, analysis, security solutions for both on-premises and cloud technology platforms.
  8. Acts as an expert consultant for escalation, requirements gathering, and representation of Data Engineering in groups, initiatives, and projects.
  9. Designs and publishes data management knowledge articles, processes, and procedures within ITIL framework for Data Management Lifecycle (Metadata, Lineage, Data Dictionary, Data Standards), Software Engineering Standards (Source Control, Code Review), Integration Models, Service Delivery, and Operations.
  10. Leads continual service improvements including updating knowledge base articles, procedures, processes, standards, and refactoring of packages and scripts.
  11. Provides technical coaching, guidance to members of technical teams and assists in the recruitment and training of team members.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
