Work Requirement

This role will be based out of our Vancouver lab and is full time onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, performs, and optimizes purification workflows of multispecific antibody therapeutics using AKTA systems, gravity flow columns, and high-throughput plate-based methods.
  • Provides analytical and biophysical characterization of antibodies and other protein therapeutics, including designing, planning, and executing experiments, either independently or in collaboration with teammates.
  • Troubleshoot methods, suggest improvements, and assist with developing new technologies for project advancement.
  • Analyze and review data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for future investigations.
  • Participate in cross-departmental activities and presents data at project team meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and operational lab.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OH&S regulations and established policies and practices.
  • Actively work to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A BSc in a relevant scientific discipline (biochemistry, immunology, structural biology etc.) and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • The candidate is expected to have good working knowledge and hands-on experience in some of the following areas:
    • Protein purification (e.g. protein A/G/L, IEX, IMAC, or SEC) and familiarity with AKTA (FPLC) system.
    • Protein analytical techniques: PAGE, CE-SDS, HPLC-SEC, Western Blotting, ELISA, cIEF, DSC, DSF, DLS or MALS.
  • Additional experience in any of the following techniques that would be considered an asset include:
    • SPR, BLI, antibody developability assays, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, FACS, or other fluorescence cell-based methods.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment.
  • Good communication skills, including scientific/technical writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to present data at team and inter-departmental meetings.

The Canadian base salary range for this full time position is $60,000 - $92,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
