The Senior Drug Product Non-Sterile Development Proposal Specialist will take customer provided technical information along with reasonable assumptions and estimate the cost and pricing for development programs for pharmaceutical products. This position will then write the related bid proposals that will be issued to the customer through the sales team. Our team supports sales efforts related to the opportunities that we quote on as well as manage the relevant quote records in Salesforce.com.

A Day in the Life:

  • Supports Sales / Global SMEs in pre-quote calls with clients as appropriate. Follows-up on actions as required.
  • Reviews Requests for Proposal information to ensure adequate information has been received to be able to prepare project costing and to collaborate closely with operational and sales teams as appropriate.
  • Reviews technical strategy from SME ensuring alignment with client needs. Dialogue with SME for alternative solutions or scope when appropriate.
  • Independently supports the Sales team on teleconferences with the client to confirm the technical aspects of projects are understood and costed appropriately. Follows-up as required.
  • Builds cost estimates in the current costing tool.
  • Drafts and completes the bid proposals using the current templates with minimal level of review from their supervisor.
  • Provides some guidance to the junior members of the proposal team related to the pricing that should be applied to opportunities.
  • Attends the Closing Call teleconferences for their respective sites and contributes where required as requested by Line Manager.
  • Acquires the required internal approvals prior to issuing the final proposal.
  • Manages the editing and updating to the quote record in SalesForce.com.
  • Contributes to continuous improvements within the proposals process.
  • Provides guidance and training to the sales and site teams and participates in global projects that extends outside of their direct quoting responsibilities, as delegated by Line Manager.
  • This role does not have any formal management responsibilities.

Keys to Success:
Education:

  • Bachelor level education in Science, Engineering, or Business is strongly preferred


Experience:

  • 6+ years of professional working experience
  • Pharmaceutical services industry experience is required.


Equivalency:

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High proficiency and capability with MS Office Suite primarily with Excel and Word.
  • Experience writing client facing documents in MS Word is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com (Client Relationship Management System).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse group of colleagues in various locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with shared metric goals.
  • Proficiency with the English Language.

Standards and Expectations:

  • Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives.
  • Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems SOP's and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems in order to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.).
  • Be client and patient conscious at all times.
  • Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving.
  • Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures.
  • Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.


Physical Requirements:
Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasionally.
