A Supply Chain Business and Data Analyst performs data management, system management, and business analysis activities to support effective Supply Chain operations and Supply Chain quality improvement across all three Unity Health Toronto sites. The position interacts with a large group of varied stakeholders including internal Supply Chain colleagues, other Unity Health Toronto staff across departments, and external third-party vendors.

Data management components of the role include comprehensive data querying and analysis, data modeling, database management, data quality management, and data standards support. Systems-related activities include the provision of subject matter expertise for Supply Chain-related systems upgrades and the monitoring of Supply Chain systems on an ongoing basis to ensure they function and support staff optimally. In addition, a Supply Chain Business and Data Analyst also leads quality improvement projects that support workflow optimization and performance management across all of Supply Chain. These activities require relationship management with multiple groups of stakeholders, significant business analysis expertise, and advanced knowledge of best practices implementation.

The position is instrumental in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Supply Chain quality framework.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders to identify and document relevant requirements, and ensure Supply Chain data sets capture accurate information for evidence-based reporting and decision-making
  • Run queries and mine data from multiple sources, use statistical tools to interpret data sets, and identify trends and patterns for diagnostic and predictive analytics
  • Present the results of data analysis work and prepare reports with contextual information to effectively communicate a narrative for clinical trending, cost savings, and decision-making
  • Design and maintain Supply Chain databases and troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues
  • Execute ongoing internal and external Supply Chain reporting activities in a very complex landscape that includes multiple Unity Health Toronto sites, multiple government bodies / funders, intricate funding models, and multiple GPO/SSOs from which data has to be collected and collated
  • Work with the Supply Chain materials management team and clinical stakeholders to develop and maintain an inventory early warning notification system to proactively inform required supply needs and prevent stockouts
  • Support the development of organization-wide data standards and policies for Supply Chain
  • Participate in the recurring auditing of Supply Chain data quality and data quality improvement initiatives
  • Create training materials that empower stakeholders to understand how to mine and analyze data
  • Understand the current state of Unity Health Toronto's ERP solution(s) functionality and the proposed future state impact of changes based on vendor documentation and/or upgrades
  • Perform system functional reviews to identify gaps in Unity Health Toronto's ERP solution(s) including any hosted third-party software
  • Validate the technical requirements of any additional business or clinical system interfacing with Unity Health Toronto's ERP solution(s)
  • Investigate potential solutions that may strengthen the system to produce additional output (e.g. reports that are not part of the standard solution provided by the software / system)
  • Identify, understand and plan for organization and staff impacts of Unity Health Toronto's ERP solution(s)
  • Ensure new technical requirements are properly integrated with existing processes and skill sets
  • Interact with internal and external end users to learn and document requirements that are then used to produce business requirements documents
  • Write technical requirements from a critical phase and interact with designers / developers to understand software limitations
  • Help programmers during system development by providing use cases, flowcharts and database designs
  • Write reports leveraging various reporting tools / software and develop testing methodologies
  • Evaluate workflow, identify areas of improvement, and recommend solutions that foster best practice and the achievement of performance targets
  • Lead the development of Supply Chain-wide performance metrics and monitor metrics on an ongoing basis to and sustain process improvements
  • Provide business analysis and data analysis support for the integration of clinical data and ERP data (items, inventory, purchase orders, case costing, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Related field (IT, business analytics, health analytics, etc.) or MBA or related qualification preferred
  • At least three years in a supply chain role to ensure a working knowledge of supply chain concepts
  • Sound knowledge of hospital operations including at least three years of hospital experience
  • Advanced data management and analytics experience including five years writing SQL or VBA reports
  • At least three years of recent experience maintaining supply chain systems, preferably Infor
  • At least five years of experience working on quality improvement initiatives
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and database management
  • Experience writing and/or defining software program code, managing systems upgrade and modification projects, determining system problems, and identifying solutions
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting systems reviews and participating in business quality improvement initiatives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship management and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, ever-changing environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work independently
