BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA has an opening for Materials Control Associate. This is a permanent, full-time position than can be located in Charlottetown, PEI.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Material segregating, quarantining, and storing activities.
  • Staging materials for manufacturing.
  • Sampling of incoming raw materials while controlling and submitting QC test samples.
  • At the discretion of the departmental manager, acting in Lead Hand in Superintendent's absence.
  • Coordinating receipt and storage of raw materials, consumables, intermediates and finished goods.
  • Controlling access to inventory.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records, including bin location, retest, and expiry date.
  • Conducting physical inventory counts as required.
  • Ensuring FIFO is followed and documenting under planned deviation when required.
  • Reporting over-due action items to management as required.
  • Investigating variances, documenting root cause and coordinating CAPA and NC activities.
  • Ensuring warehouse material handling equipment is properly used and maintained.
  • Performing daily forklift checks.
  • Performing local pickups and deliveries including internal mail.
  • Scheduling and managing pickups to return drums, totes, cylinders etc
  • Unloading bulk solvents tankers and filling out appropriate work instructions.
  • Maintaining daily housekeeping.
  • Maintaining PIP (Partners in Protection) for all deliveries and pickups.
  • Maintaining and making recommendations for improvements to quality system.
  • Supporting Logistics and Packaging operations when necessary.
  • Material sampling to support retest system.
  • Ensuring TDG, Forklift training and SOP's are current.
  • Supporting waste management systems including storage, handling and record keeping activities.

The successful candidate for this position should have:

  • High School diploma.
  • Post-Secondary Education in logistics/supply chain or chemical technology an asset.
  • One year material handling or inventory control experience.
  • API manufacturing setting or FDA regulated environment experience an asset.
  • WHMIS/HMIS and TDG training are considered an asset.
  • Forklift experience an asset.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Heavy lifting required (50-100lbs).
  • Overtime when required.
