Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Chemistry Analyst is to perform analytical chemistry tests, operate equipment, and review test data with minimum supervision. The candidate should be available to work in the evening and/or week-end shift as may be required. This position reports to Chemistry Lab Assistant Manager and/or delegates.

Work in a fast paced environment that requires a high level of attention to detail with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical tests according to the SOPs and GMP Guidelines with a capacity of independent experimental conception.
  • Operate analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers) with minimum supervision.
  • Review and interpret raw data and results in a detailed fashion.
  • Provide training and supervise other analysts as delegated by the supervisor.
  • Solve analytical problems and provide recommendations.
  • Follow safety rules, policies, and regulations.
  • Attain and maintain high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Detect anomalies and report to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with other analysts, supervisors and QA team.
  • Perform other tasks pertaining to this job function that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Academic/Educational Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Chemistry and/or related scientific disciplines (Biology, Biochemistry)

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical QC testing, experience in data reviewing is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cGMP and pharmacopeia (USP, BP/EP).

Required Skills:

  • Bilingual, French and English.
  • Must have Canadian citizenship or permanent residency to apply.
  • Efficiency in executing tasks with accuracy and in a timely manner as well as recognizing priorities.
  • Must be organized, a multi-tasker and take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook programs.
  • Laboratory problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
