JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Vice-President, Labile Blood Products, you are responsible for managing all the activities related to product processing and production as well as needs planning for the entire province of Québec. You propose effective strategies for all activities related to the production of blood products. You ensure the best production processes and technologies are in place for Montréal and Québec. You collaborate actively with the Supply Chain and the Quality and Regulatory Affairs divisions.

More specifically, you:

  • define the department's strategic and operational objectives;
  • plan, organize, direct and control activities and resources related to blood product processing activities, including labelling; 
  • oversee the production of the mother's milk bank;
  • establish clear strategies to determine the processing and labelling requirements for blood products;
  • lead process reengineering efforts related to blood product processing in order to optimize them;
  • ensure critical thinking with regard to blood product needs planning and a link between processing and supply activities;
  • lead the deployment of new business processes and oversee change management;
  • prepare and manage the annual executive budgets as well as the capital and equipment acquisition plan;
  • participate in the various validation projects related to production services;
  • establish and track performance indicators and operating statistics to achieve business objectives;
  • aim for continuous improvement in the quality and value of products and services offered;
  • build a culture of continuous improvement in the management of operations;
  • ensure application and compliance with the laws, regulations, good manufacturing practices, policies and procedures in effect at Héma-Québec;
  • conduct inspection visits to maintain the biological product manufacturer licence;
  • manage risks and monitor business continuity and emergency response plans;
  • provide motivational leadership in executing the strategic plan and engaging staff in achieving management objectives;
  • evaluate and develop your management team according to the objectives defined in the performance management and talent management program; and
  • ensure the application of collective agreements of unionized management personnel and participate in negotiations, if applicable.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Business Administration, Engineering or any other relevant field
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) considered an asset
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including 10 years of management experience in a production environment within a large unionized and regulated company
  • Significant experience in business process improvement;
  • Lean Six Sigma training is an asset
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in French, both oral and written

Notes
