enGene is seeking versatile, dynamic and team-oriented Research Associates with a pharma, biotech or CRO environment background to be an integral part of the Pre-Clinical Development Group team.  These positions report to the Assay Manager.

This Research Associates will perform experiments and develop / optimize assays in molecular and cellular biology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associates will:

  • Develop and perform potency assays.
  • Develop and perform ELISA assays, RT-qPCR in support of in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Perform studies using flow cytometry assays.
  • Perform molecular biology techniques (bacterial transformations, restriction enzyme digests, DNA and RNA isolation).
  • Maintain cell lines and perform in vitro transfection experiments.
  • Develop and qualify new assays in support of pre-clinical studies.
  • Participate in planning experiments and evaluating/interpreting test results.
  • Perform laboratory tests and/or experiments in accordance to laboratory policies with established standard operating protocols.

Required experience and qualification

  • B.Sc., or M.Sc. in biological sciences
  • 2 to 10 years of biological sciences in the Pharma, Biotech or CRO industry
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance such as GLP, GMP, and GCP
  • Experience conducting in vivo procedures (e.g. dosing, bleeds, tissue collection, etc.) in rodent models is an asset
  • Experience working with primary cells is desirable.
  • Good command of microscopy techniques (e.g. bright field, fluorescence, confocal, etc), including immunostaining methods is an asset.

The candidates will have the following competencies necessary for this position:

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in English. Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products as well as GraphPad Prism
  • Adapt to changes quickly and work effectively under pressure
  • Work in a team environment and communicate effectively to facilitate meeting timelines
