Auxiliary technologist, human tissues - Recovery and handling

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor–Human Tissues, you provide external services for the recovery and handling of human tissues. You also perform the recovery of ocular tissue. You work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Safe Work Practices (SWP).

More specifically, you:

  • Oversee the arrival of the material;
  • Clean and assemble sterile surgical kits and maintain clean room environments;
  • Take part in preparing the donor for the recovery procedure; 
  • Handle the material according to aseptic techniques;
  • Document all information related to the tissue recovery and handling; 
  • Perform the recovery of ocular tissue in facilities or various hospitals within the Quebec City region; 
  • Perform all other related tasks.


  • Hold a diploma of vocational or college studies (DEP or DEC) in a health-related field. A diploma in another specialization combined with relevant experience may be considered;
  • One to three years of relevant job-related experience;
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply good clean room practices, as well as aseptic techniques.
