ABOUT THE POSITION: We are seeking candidates who are compassionate, caring and who can understand the challenges our patients and their families face. As the ideal candidate you are a pharmacy assistant who is responsible for assisting the pharmacy team in the preparations of medications and supporting them with optimal patient care. Working within a busy pharmacy or clinical environment, you have excellent communication and time-management skills. YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Preparing prescriptions for sign off by a pharmacy technician or pharmacist according to pharmacy workflow and procedures: * Receiving written prescriptions and inputting them into the computer system. * Resolving third-party billing issues. * Measuring, mixing, packaging, and labelling drugs. * Pre-packaging medications (e.g., methadone, unit-dose medications). * Assist the dispensing pharmacist in the safe and effective delivery of medication, including: * Ensuring prescriptions are only provided to patients once the therapeutic check by a pharmacist has been performed * Communicating with clients and physicians as needed * Answering telephones and taking messages * Receiving and sending electronic or fax communications, and general filing * Data entry and billing of prescriptions using Kroll Pharmacy Software ensuring that required documentation is complete, including third-party billing restrictions, co-payment management, and coordination of benefits * Assist with the management and reconciliation of inventory * Other duties as assigned by the Designated Manager or dispensing pharmacist(s) WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE: * Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant College diploma and/or equivalent of a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience * Experience using Kroll Pharmacy Software * Provision of a recent and acceptable Criminal Reference Check. * Proficiency in using Microsoft platform, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel. * Demonstrated patient-centered pharmacy practice skills. * Demonstrated decision-making skills. * Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills. * Demonstrated ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations. * Excellent interpersonal skills.
