We are seeking a qualified Senior Engineer or Analyst to support and expand forecasting and analytical activities within our Grid Analytics (GA) team. GA is a cross-functional team that is responsible for analytics of the transmission system, forecasting support, and performing data-intensive engineering studies that focus on the interaction between the electricity market and the transmission system, including congestion and capability assessments. In this position, you will support and expand probabilistic engineering assessments and analytical activities. It plays an essential role in executing and advancing predictive analytics methodology, tools, and applications to enhance Grid Reliability practices and inform decision-making. Your main accountabilities: Provide advanced grid and market analytics, including power system and market simulations, to support system connections, planning, and operations decision-making. Develop, enhance, and maintain congestion and nodal market models, tools, and processes to support system planning, operational analysis, and connection assessments. Conduct risk-based, probabilistic engineering and market studies, including capability, congestion, and system performance assessments. Design, prototype, and implement analytical tools and methodologies to improve forecasting, modelling, and system optimization. Act as an analytics subject-matter expert, collaborating cross-functionally to support system studies through forecasting, data visualization, and actionable insights. You have: A bachelor’s degree in engineering with a focus on electrical engineering or analytics. Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation and registration in good standing with APEGA (or eligibility to obtain registration). 10+ years’ experience in the power industry. Experience in performing statistical analysis and employing optimization techniques. Experience with power flow studies. Experience with Python scripting. Experience with data query, maintenance, and use of databases (SQL server, Oracle). Experience working with data and visualization. These aren’t required, but you’ll stand out if you have any: Previous market simulation modelling experience (Aurora, Uplan, or Plexos). Solid knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques, advanced statistical techniques, and experience with applications.
