The Position
The position is located in Montreal. The individual’s primary function will be to support the sourcing, selection, and management of investments of privately held medical technology companies, most notably in Canada, but as well as USA and Europe.
Specific Responsibilities
Work with the Venture Capital team to identify medtech investments consistent with the Fund’s objectives and risk constraints Play an active role in the investment process including sourcing, evaluating and closing transactions Support rigorous due diligence on scientific and clinical data, regulatory and commercial strategy Conduct market sizing and competitive landscape analysis Build financial models using provided inputs Participate and prepare documents for the Investment Committee Update and maintain investment deal database Compile meeting notes and due diligence findings
Ideal Candidate Will Have
Advanced scientific training and/or working experience in the medical technology industry Good understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methodologies Superior report writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills Very strong analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to network and build trust-based relationships A passion to learn, ability to multi-task, and willingness to work in situations that involve tight deadlines Currently located or interested in relocating to Montreal, with the expectation of working in person
Requirements
- Ph.D. in life sciences or a related area; and/or biomedical engineering degree
- MBA in finance or equivalent are a plus
- CFA designation or commitment to pursuing the CFA designation
- 2 to 4 years of work experience in medical technology, venture capital or life sciences industry sector
- Fluency in oral and written English
- International work experience an asset
