Job Summary

We are actively seeking a Toxicology Technician to join our team and continue our work with the welfare of animals in mind.

As a Toxicology Technician, you play an important role in the proper conduct of a study. You will be directly responsible to carry-out activities with animals as a part of the study plan in order to asses the safety of a specified drug. Working closely with Team Leaders and Study Directors, you will collect information from on-going studies and provide data on observation and findings.

General Responsibilities

  • Sets up animal rooms for studies (including supplies and equipment).
  • Performs activities related to general animal husbandry.
  • Dosing and other related procedures.
  • Collects biological samples.
  • Collects biometric data on safety pharmacology studies.
  • Uses, maintains and calibrates equipment.
  • Keeps meticulous daily records of study plan activities and adheres to SOP's (Standard Operating Procedure) and GLP's (Good Laboratory Practice).
  • Reports immediately and unforeseen problems or deviations to the Team Leader.
  • Perform any other duties as required.


  • College diploma in Animal Health Technology, college diploma or bachelor's degree in Science, Biology, Biotechnology, Veterinary, Nursing or equivalence.
  • Experience in handling animals is a definite asset.
  • Experience in a laboratory or other scientific environment is a plus.
  • Must be available to work full time: 37.5 hours/week.
  • Ability to work flexible timelines and additional hours including evening and weekends.
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry weight up-to/around 20kg (44 lbs).
  • Must have good attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and high sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
