Role Description The Pharmacy Assistant role at Shoppers Drug Mart in Ottawa, ON is a full-time, on-site position supporting the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Assistant will help process prescriptions, prepare medications under the supervision of the pharmacist, and ensure accurate data entry into pharmacy systems. This role includes assisting customers at the pharmacy counter, answering phone inquiries with professional etiquette, and coordinating with healthcare providers when required. The Pharmacy Assistant will also participate in inventory management by receiving, organizing, and tracking pharmacy stock, and maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant work environment. Collaboration with pharmacists and other team members is essential to provide timely, respectful, and accurate service to all customers. Qualifications Experience in pharmacy operations and prescription processing, with knowledge of pharmacy terminology and workflows. Strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, handle inquiries, and support diverse customers respectfully. Professional phone etiquette and confident interpersonal communication skills for interacting with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers. Inventory management skills, including organizing stock, monitoring product levels, and following procedures for ordering and receiving medications. Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to follow established protocols and regulatory standards. Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and collaborate effectively with the pharmacy team. Minimum 2 years of experience as a pharmacy assistant is must. Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy or point-of-sale systems; proficiency in English, with additional language skills considered an advantage.
