Your Opportunity: Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) is seeking a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team at the Cross Cancer Institute. You will work to full scope of practice and support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in all areas of medication distribution. Responsibilities include coordinating and performing sterile & non-sterile compounding, final checks of medications, inventory, and procurement activities. You will check and dispense patient-specific medication orders and repackaged medications. The role also involves mentoring assistants and technicians, training new staff, and precepting students while collaborating closely with pharmacists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Additional responsibilities may include participating in committees or working groups, or special projects as assigned, maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. You will adhere to NAPRA and ACP standards and contribute to operational activities and quality improvement initiatives. Strong verbal and written English communication skills, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail are essential. Physical demands include standing, walking, keyboarding, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. The role includes handling hazardous medications using appropriate PPE. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications: Applicants should have recent experience a minimum of 1 year experience within the past 2 years as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting, including sterile and nonsterile compounding (including hazardous products),1 year+ experience in an oncology setting, and recent prior experience in a community or other relevant pharmacy setting. Physical demands of the role include regular lifting of up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., as well as frequent pushing and pulling, and standing or sitting for extended periods. Requirements
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program and current, provisional, or transferable registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy are required. Applicants need at least one year of recent hospital pharmacy technician experience, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, at least one year of oncology experience, and recent experience in a community or other relevant pharmacy setting; association membership and experience with Willow Pharmacy, Oracle, or Pyxis are preferred or assets.
