This role will perform all aspects of drug distribution to support the effective daily operation of departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care. Core duties include, but are not limited to, preparation and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, repackaging, and dispensing patient orders. You will have the opportunity to provide guidance, assist with the training and orientation of staff and students, and supervise Pharmacy Assistants. Pharmacy Technicians also provide clinical support through problem solving and discrepancy resolution to support direct patient care. Description: As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products. Classification: Pharmacy Technician Union: HSAA Facility PROF/TECH Unit and Program: Red Deer Regional Hospital Pharmacy Primary Location: Red Deer Regional Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.80 Posting End Date: 19-OCT-2026 Temporary Employee Class: Temporary Part Time Date Available: 02-NOV-2026 Temporary End Date: 31-MAR-2027 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 2 Shifts per cycle: 8 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $34.01 Maximum Salary: $42.59 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications: Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stand for the duration of your shift, push/pull, bend/twist and lift up to 30 lbs. Must be fluent in the English language (written and verbal), demonstrated communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate an effective service attitude and self-motivation. Must be able to work both independently and co-operatively in a team environment. Must be able to adapt to new technologies and change workflow patterns. An excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Demonstrated computer or word processing skills. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Preferred Qualifications: Prior hospital experience. Prior experience in retail pharmacy setting. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred.

Requirements

Requires completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program and current, provisional, or transferable registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy. Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, communicate effectively in English, work independently and collaboratively, adapt to changing workflows and technology, and demonstrate reliability and computer skills.
